North China University of Water Resources and Electric Power

(Hereafter called NCWU )

 From Representative of   North China University of Water Resources and Electric Power(Hereafter called NCWU )

was founded in 1951. Currently, it is jointly sponsored by China’s Ministry of Water Resources and Henan

Provincial Government. With two campuses, NCWU occupies a land area of 155 hectares and its floor area reaches 

680,000 square meters.

The university library owns a collection of more than 2 million books. The value of NCWU’s  laboratory equipments and 

facilities amount to over 210 million yuan (RMB).

 

With over 1600 faculty and staff, NCWU offers 60 bachelor.  58 master and 3 doctoral programs to over 23,000 full-time

students and 18000-plus part-time  students.

 

NCWU encompasses 20 teaching units, namely,

Research Institute of Steel Structures,

Yellow River Institute of Sciences,

Research Institute of Urban Water Affairs,

Institute of Geotechnical Engineering and Hydraulic Structures,

Institute of Broad-Spectrum Philosophy and Research Center for Art Education, and many others.

Over the past decades, NCWU has been awarded with countless honors by various academic institutions and

government agencies at central and provincial levels.

Honors that NCWUers value and remember particularly are awards for NCWU’s efforts and achievements for its

graduates. In 2009 and 2012 respectively, the university was awarded by the Ministry of Education as “National

Advanced Institution in Promoting Employment for Graduates”,and awarded by Henan Provincial Government as

Model for the Most Competitive Employment-promotion University in Henan Province”. The best awards come

from employers. Over the years,

3. Eligibility for Application

① Foreign citizens aging from 18 to 35;

② Graduates at least from high schools;

③ Applicants should be healthy, and have no criminal records;

④ Applicants shall have basic Chinese language proficiency, such as HSK Band 3 or other relevant qualifications.

 

III. One-Year-Long Business Chinese Language Programs

1. Junior-level Class

Applicable for students who have mastered about  800  Chinese words and are able to use simple sentence patterns to talk and write. Through one-year learning of listening, speaking, reading and writing in Chinese, most of the students are able to pass the primary-level HSK (Chinese Proficiency Test) and to conduct business with Chinese-speaking business persons.

 

2. Mid-level Class

Applicable for students who have mastered about 1,500 words and are able to talk and write in basic  Chinese . Through one year learning of listening, speaking, reading, writing in Chinese, students will have a basic understanding of Chinese culture and society, and most of them are able to pass the mid-level HSK (Chinese Proficiency Test), and to conduct business with Chinese-speaking business persons or to work Chinese-owned companies.

 

3. Senior-level Class

Applicable for students who have mastered about 2,000 Chinese words and are able to talk and write in  meaning ful Chinese. Through one year learning of listening, speaking, reading, writing in Chinese, most of them can pass advanced-level HSK (Chinese Proficiency Test) and are able to conduct business in fluent Chinese with Chinese-speaking persons, to work in Chinese-owned companies, to teach elementary Chinese to students and to translate for bosses, officials in their home countries. 

 

 

Note: Semester-long classes are also available. When applicants amount to 10 persons, a new class is to be set up.

IV Tailor-made Training Programs in Business Chinese for Foreign and Local Companies

Business Chinese language training ordered by foreign companies or China-based international companies are welcome. Training scheme, curriculum, price etc can be discussed and finalized on the basis of mutual benefit.

 

V. Beyond-Language Programs Taught in Chinese

Eligibility

Basic requirements:

Applicants should be foreign citizens aging from 18 to 30, graduated at least from high schools, be healthy and have no criminal records.

Language skill requirements: Applicants shall pass Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK) band 4 (including band 4). With lower Chinese proficiency, applicants are suggested to study Chinese for a period of time at our university (NCWU) or in their own countries. When applicants pass HSK4, they are eligible to apply to enter bachelor degree programs of our university (NCWU).

Tuition (in RMB) for bachelor degree programs:

12,000 yuan /year for majors in humanities and social sciences;

13,000 yuan /year for majors in engineering and  technology.

B.Chinese proficiency at or above HSK ( 汉语水平考试Chinese Language Proficiency Test ) Band 4;

C.No criminal records;

D.Good health.

20,000 yuan /year for disciplines in humanities and social sciences;
